I was grinding what I thought was some surface rust off my door this fall and all of a sudden, boom, no more metal. The “surface” rust went right through. The fix? Expandable foam and caulk topped off with bed liner. You’d never know. There ain’t no mix up caulk can’t fix up.

Yup! Great stuff foam and some truck bed liner is what my rocker panels on my Jeep are made up of until I can replace them this summer. Lasted 2 winters though before the rust started to show through again!

Alex! How’s the resto coming?

I’ve finally gotten back to work on my 1600. I got my intake emission fittings plugged. New temp sensor in and drained the brake system. Calipers are off and on my workbench for dis-assembly. I just ordered:

brake master

front and rear shocks

extra fuel filters

brake hoses

Tonight I’m going to pull the rear brake cylinders to check those out. Then I’ll figure out if I need to rebuild all. I’m sure I will.

Over the winter I found a convertible frame on eBay. Needs some work too.

My 280Z still needs a few things pulled off before media blasting.

I am very poor right now.

Hey man I’m doing great! Working on the rear rocker panels now, I’ll post some pictures soon, I’ve just been lazy. I recently refitted all my overhauled brakes and master cylinder, so now I’m braking like a pro! If you have any questions about the brake system don’t hesitate to ask me, on here or on 311s.org, I’ve gone through every part of it, 5 times, because it leaked the first 4 times. Thanks for keeping up on my progress bud! Can’t wait for another update from yours.

I got my calipers apart last night. I have some more work ahead...

Kinja'd!!!

I picked up a brake cylinder hone at O’reillys at lunch. Hopefully that’s all I have to do and not purchase new ones.

Yeah those don’t look too awful, as long as you don’t have any big pits on the surface where the seal slides you should be OK! I had to have mine turned on a lathe to get the surface usable, and then I bought some oversized seals from a hot rod shop. These brakes are the same as a Jaguar XK150, a Ferrari 250 GTO, and countless other priceless cars, so there are parts available, some are actually cheaper than the Datsun OEM parts, hahaha.
